Piezoelectric monomers are currently only used in a few high pitched applications. Piezo electric materials refer to materials that will stretch, shrink or bend after applying voltage, such as Rochelle salt, barium titanate, titanate, zirconate and other compounds, which have been used in components such as phonographs and earphones. As for the use on speakers, it is not possible to achieve this until a high polymer made of axially stretchable polyvinylidene fluoride resin and treated with vacuum vaporized aluminum on both sides appears. This monomer has good linearity, low distortion, and good instantaneous performance, and can be designed into various shapes due to its lightweight. Its disadvantage is that it has capacitive impedance and sometimes requires specially designed switching amplifiers.
In addition, there are designs such as air valve type speakers (which allow air to sound through the horn through a compressed air slot), induction type, thermal friction type, and officially commercialized film type. Philips in the Netherlands once introduced an MFB speaker, which contains an amplifier and active feedback components inside the speaker box, extending the amplifier's feedback loop to the speaker's voice coil. Philips' product was not successful, but it inspired manufacturers such as Infinity and Genisis to manufacture servo amplifiers in the bass section to reduce the distortion of the bass.
